The “Son of Man” coming on clouds is the most important vision of Daniel. By this, the sacred author conveys the message that the people who are being persecuted for their faith would be glorified before God. The New Testament considers this as a prophecy concerning the resurrection and exaltation of Jesus Christ as the Lord and Judge of the world. Jesus himself alluded to this prophecy in his response to the High Priest. The name “Daniel” means “God judges”.
